"Since you have been raised to new life with
Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits at God's
right hand in the place of honor and power. Let heaven fill your
thoughts. Do not think only about things down here on earth. For you
died when Christ died, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.
And when Christ, who is your real life, is revealed to the whole world, you will
share in all his glory."

Our mission at First United Methodist Church of Archer City is to make disciples for Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, by providing a loving place for people of all ages to grow in Christ, sing his praises and minister to others with all that we are. In keeping with this mission, we have a variety of activities on a weekly, monthly and yearly basis. Some of these activities are... Sunday School Classes We have a Sunday School class for everybody! From childhood to adulthood, we believe Sunday school participation is a vital part of ministering to one another. Each class meets at 9:30A.M, right after our morning coffee fellowship. Melissa Huff provides a safe and loving nursery for the youngest of our family. Mitzi Howell picks up caring for our pre-K-kindergarten children, while Michelle Cadman nourishes our elementary ages. Sharon Roderick cares for our older elementary ages while Michelle Green guides our junior high group.
Our youth Sunday school class is led by Bridget Wylie. The boys seem to dominate the class, but our precious few girls are just that...very precious! This group meets each Sunday evening for MYF, led by Mark and Michelle Green, our youth leaders.
We have five adult Sunday School classes. The Seekers Sunday School is led by Jerry Phillips. This class, a mixture of ages, single or married, is a group of diverse attitudes and opinions. You do not have to take part in the discussions, but you will probably feel the need to express your opinions from time to time! At the present time the class is studying the Book of Romans. This class also continues their fellowship on a regular basis outside the Sunday School classroom. They have "Bunko" tournaments, with traveling trophies, at their their socials.
One of our members of the Fellowship Class, Janice
Berend, had this to say about them. In 2003, we added a young adults class, led by Paul Wylie and another adult class, the Explorers, led by Craig and Ange Walling, and a Women's class led by Nina Peysen. UMYF (United Methodist Youth Fellowship) Our youth meet on a regular basis for a variety of activities, including each Sunday evening at 6:00P.M. Our youth directors, Mark and Michelle Green, are faithful to this group and dedicated to the teaching of God's Word. MCF (Methodist Children's Fellowship) Our children, grades 1-5, meet on Sunday evenings and Wednesday afternoons for a variety of activities. Our children's director, Melissa Huff, leads the group, along with several faithful volunteers. Emmaus Some of our members are involved in the local Emmaus community. We have a group of women who are Emmaus "graduates", that meet on a weekly basis for reunion and to hold one another accountable to living a life for Christ. We participate in the monthly Emmaus gathering which is held each third Tuesday of the month. For more information about Emmaus, please follow these links. Red River Emmaus Community (local) Upper Room's Emmaus national website. First United Methodist Church of Archer City has a variety of activities on an annual basis, including, but not limited to....
