"We try to live in such a way that no one will be hindered from finding the Lord by the way we act, and so no one can find fault with our ministry.  In everything we do we try to show that we are true ministers of God..."
2 Corinthians 6:3-4a

"God has given gifts to each of you from his great variety of spiritual gifts.  Manage them well so that God's generosity can flow through you."
1 Peter 4:10

"He is the one who gave these gifts to the church; the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers.  Their responsibility is to equip God's people to do His work and build up the church, the body of Christ, until we come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God's Son that we will be mature and full grown in the Lord, measuring up to the full stature of Christ."
Ephesians 4:11-13

"Now there are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but it is the same Holy Spirit who is the source of them all.  There are different kinds of service in the church, but it is the same Lord we are serving.  There are different ways God works in our lives, but it is the same God who does the work through all of us.  A spiritual gift is given to each of us as a means of helping the entire church."
1 Corinthians 12:4-7

As our church family is growing we are realizing the variety of gifts our Lord has given us.  We believe in using these gifts to further the limitless boundaries of love and graces of our God.  Through our various ministries, we nurture to one another and to our community.

LIFT...Living in Faith Together

In 1993 several "younger" ladies of the church got together and started the group we now know as LIFT, Learning In Faith Together.  The original purpose of this group was to, "build friendships with other Christian women and strengthen our roles as wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend."  The group also provides a means for Christian fellowship and support for each other through good times as well as difficult times in our busy lives.

Since our conception, LIFT has done just that, provided Christian fellowship and spiritual growth with others who believe in the importance of the Christian family and community.  We have been involved in outreach programs such as visiting the 'homebound' of our church family,  maintaining the church flower beds, contributing to the annual church bazaar with crafts made as a group and preparing and delivering meals to community families in response to a joy such as the birth of a child as well as a death or severe illness of a family member.  The annual "Pancake Feed" held in February is a community event to raise funds for the LIFT outreach programs.  LIFT meets monthly, each first Monday, at 6:00PM and enjoys devotionals relevant to the lives of busy women of the current times.  And yes, we have enjoyed lots of fun, food and fellowship throughout the years.

In 1998, the LIFT group compiled a cookbook entitled, "A Taste of Faith", a collection of recipes from church members and Christian friends throughout the Archer City community.  If you are interested in purchasing a cookbook please email us or contact the church office at 940-574-4983.

Our Youth

The Senior and Junior High Youth are led by Mark and Michelle Green.  Mark grew up in the church and knows the importance of ministry to youth in a town and country setting.  The youth meet on Sunday evenings at 6:00PM for fun, food, fellowship and Bible Study each week.  They also participate in fund raisers and have a special activity once a month.  They are faithful in attendance to Sunday School and Worship and on the 3rd Sunday of each month, they assist in leading the Sunday morning worship service.

Our Children

Children in grades 3-5 serve as acolytes for morning worship.  Vacation Bible School is held at the church each summer with the entire community participating.  Children's Sunday School Classes are held for ages 3 through 5th grade.  A favorite of morning worship for the entire congregation is "Children's Message" time led by Pastor Rick Davis and various members of the congregation.  In October of 2003, we began MCF, Methodist Children's Fellowship.  Our 1st-5th graders meet on Sunday evenings and then again on Wednesdays, after school, for a variety of activities.  Melissa Huff leads this group along with several faithful volunteers.

Golden Girls

The Golden Girls of FUMC in Archer City meet monthly.  They join together for fellowship, devotionals, spiritual growth and to participate in a variety of activities relating to our church's needs and each others needs.

Choir

Several of our members are faithful to the music ministry of our church.  They meet on a weekly basis, Wednesday evenings at 6:00P.M., for practice.  They are led by Christy Green and are a vital part of our worship experience.  Katheryn Carnes is our talented accompanist.

Disciple Bible Study

We are currently in our fourth year of Disciple Bible Study with approximately 30 graduates.  This year we have a Disciple I class with 9 students, lead by Jerry Phillips and a Disciple IV class of 14 students, lead by Pastor Rick and Tracie Davis.  We meet on Wednesday nights and the two classes enjoy cookies, brownies and snacks of any kind as we take our evening break together.

Homebound Ministry

Our Homebound ministry was formed September 2002,  in order to meet the needs of our members who are no longer able to attend services on a weekly basis, if at all.  Those who have felt called to this ministry, keep in touch with at least one of these members through a variety of means, including visitation, remembering birthdays, and paying special attention to any other needs the person may have.  Pastor Rick also takes communion to these people on a monthly basis.

Intercessory Prayer Group

Pastor Rick started this group in July 2002 so that we, as the body of Christ, gather in prayer together on a weekly basis, lifting up those in our church family, our friends, family and those in our community, to our Lord.  Pastor Rick gives a devotional and his wife, Tracie, leads the group in prayer each Wednesday morning at 9:30A.M.  The sanctuary is open from 6:30A.M.-4:00P.M. each Wednesday morning for individual prayer time.

Nursing Home Worship Service

Every 5th Sunday, FUMC of Archer City, takes their turn in providing a worship service for the residents of the Archer City Nursing Home.  Several of our members are faithful participants as we lead singing and hear a short sermon given by our Pastor, Rick Davis.

Faith City Mission Service

Many of our members are involved in this service and are faithful to helping to serve meals at the Faith City Mission in Wichita Falls.  We have teams who have committed themselves to service on the second Monday of each month.  Our church collects needed items every 3rd Sunday to be given to a variety of organizations in our community and surrounding area.

Thrift Shop

Archer City has a Thrift Shop that is served by the local community.  It provides many needs and is staffed by all of the local churches on a voluntary basis.  Several of our members serve the Thrift Shop on the first Saturday of each month and every fourth Thursday.
