HSCA Record #: 180-10088-10485 AGENCY FILE #: 007271 [2 OF 6] STATE OF LOUISIANA PARISH OF ORLEANS AFFIDAVIT BEFORE ME, the undersigned authority, personally came and appeared PETER DEAGEANO who, after first being duly sworn, did depose and state: I can remember being in the Bourbon House after the assassination of President Kennedy when a picture of Lee Harvey Oswald appeared on the television screen. As soon as I saw his picture on television I immediately recognized his face and remarked to someone that I had seen him before in the Bourbon House. The first thing I remember about him was that I saw him handing out leaflets on Canal Street some time before the assassination. I was coming back from a bid in connection with my job and I was walking on Canal Street and as I passed in front of McCrory's Department Store in the 1000 Block of Canal Street, I saw him handing out leaflets in that vicinity. I recognized him as the same person that I had seen a few days earlier in the Bourbon House and I walked up to him to say hello and to see what he was doing. When he saw me he handed me one of his leaflets. I looked at it and when I saw that it said something about helping Cuba, I just threw it down and walked off. I then remembered that I also saw him a few days before this incident in the Bourbon House. It was between 2:00 and 4:00 o'clock in the afternoon either in August or September of 1963. I was sitting at a table in the Bourbon House eat- ing a hamburger. There weren't too many people in the Bourbon House and as I looked around I noticed Kerry Thornley, Jeanne Hack and him sitting at a table close to me. I looked at them and said hello and either Kerry Thornley or Jeanne Hack introduced him to me. I cannot remember how he was introduced or any of the conversation that we may have had as it was a very casual meeting. However, I remember thinking to myself that he might be related to Kerry Thornley as he resembled him quite a bit. I don't remember how long they stayed in the Bourbon House that afternoon, but they left together while I was still in there. After the assassination of President Kennedy a picture of Lee Harvey Oswald appeared on television and I immediately recognized him as being identical to the person I had seen handing out leaflets on Canal Street, and identical to the person that I saw sitting in the Bourbon House with Kerry Thornley and Jeanne Hack. ____________________________ PETER DEAGEANO SWORN TO AND SUBSCRIBED BEFORE ME THIS ___ DAY OF _________, 1968. ______________________________ NOTARY PUBLIC
