HSCA Record #: 1801007610180 AGENCY FILE #: 008269 [PT. 13] MEMORANDUM March 14, 1968 TO: JIM GARRISON, District Attorney FROM: ANDY SCIAMBRA, Assistant District Attorney RE: KERRY THORNLEY ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ On the night of March 12, 1968, Harold Weisberg and I interviewed BERNARD GOLDSMITH. GOLDSMITH repeated essentially what he had previously told Gary Sanders, however, upon further prodding by Weisburg and myself he made a few additional comments concerning THORNLEY. He repeated that THORNLEY was a right-winger and so set in his political beliefs that he, GOLDSMITH, and THORNLEY made an agreement not to talk politics. He says he can never remember THORNLEY mentioning BRINGUIER or KENT COURTNEY's name. He said that THORNLEY and LOVIN were friends (LOVIN told him that he was in the Bay of Pigs Invasion). GOLDSMITH said that he remembers being in the Bourbon House on the night after the assassination and THORNLEY remarking to him that he had known OSWALD in that OSWALD had lived on Exchange Place. THORNLEY also told him that OSWALD was not a communist. GOLDSMITH said that THORNLEY did not specify as to the time when he had known OSWALD but only stated that he had known OSWALD. GOLDSMITH does not recall him ever saying specifically that he knew OSWALD when OSWALD was in New Orleans. GOLDSMITH also says that he vaguely remembers ROGER LOVIN telling him that he, LOVIN, was a roommate of OSWALD at one time and GOLDSMITH said that he seems to remember LOVIN saying this in connection with a conversation about LOVIN's Cuban activities. GOLDSMITH also said that JOHN EFFERSON and TIM SOHR were friends of THORNLEY's. SOHR is presently serving time at Angola. Barbara and I will make further attempts to talk to GOLDSMITH who may know some additional information.
