Civil Air Patrol is the official auxiallary of the United States Air Force, and is included under the Air Education Training Command. Teens ages 13-18 or 6th grade and up can join the cadet program. CAP cadets learn drill and ceremonies, emergency services, and important life saving skills. Cadets are also elligible for Orientation Flights aboard CAP Aircraft. In Mineral Wells, O-Flights are given every few months. Cadets can also attend CAP encampments, which teach more advanced drill along with the principles of teamwork, duty, honor, and loyalty.
The Mineral Wells Composite Squadron meets every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month at a barracks at Fort Wolters between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM. We also have an office at Mineral Wells Municipal Airport. MW Composite Sq. owns a brand-new Cessna 172 used for cadet orientation flights and air search and rescue support.
