FIREWORKS 2000 PAGE

1.3G Pro. Display Firework "Cakes"

Each year brings even more varieties of large display boxes, commonly called cakes or kapoks. These items are much larger than those available in consumer firework outlets, in fact some of them are huge, firing up to 300 shots or more. Check out the photos below to see what is available to pro fireworks people, to add variety to their professional displays.

This 30-shot cake contains 2 inch diameter (50 mm) shells, comets or other effects, fired in a V-shaped pattern. It has been removed from the box for this photo so the unique construction can be seen.
66 colored star shells are projected sequentially from this heavy cake.
This 105-shot item fires comets in a fan shaped pattern, covering a large arc of sky. Removed from its box for clarity.
A different approach is used in the construction of this 96-shot rack that projects stars and comets in a V-shape. Shown out of its box.
Perhaps the name says it all, for this cake, 200 large caliber shots, all directed straight upward. 300, 500 and 600 shot versions of similar cakes are  also available.

Part of the main display setup of a Texas show.
Another portion of that show was fired from a trailer.
2-inch (50 millimeter) Roman candles were part of the display too. These tubes are approximately 36 inches (900 mm) tall.

The firework display for MayFest this year was the most intense, awesome low-level project I have ever had the pleasure to be a part of. This show consisted of many effects, here banks of small shell mortars are shown.

These are comets fired from fan-shaped cakes used in the MayFest display.
Eight 3-inch (75 mm) diameter pro gerbs provide the floor for bursting purple comets above.
Countless small shells were unleashed from shell cakes and shell mortar racks.
More fan-shaped comets seen just emerging from their mortars and at their full splendor above.
Beautiful headlight star comets dance so colorfully during MayFest.
