What to Bring (to the meetings) |
GOAL FOR PACK 155: As the Cubmaster, and with your help as parents, my goal is to help each boy to learn the value of his own worth by providing encouragement as he learns to simply do his best.
HOW CAN WE ACHIEVE THE GOAL (Cub Scout Leader Book):
1) By providing opportunities to develop new skills and interests; thereby, fostering a sense of personal achievement.
2) By providing fun and exciting things to do.
3) By showing how to be helpful and do one's best.
4) By strengthening the ability to get along with others and to show respect.
5) By developing attitudes and habits of good citizenship.
6) By developing character and encouraging good sportsmanship.
WHAT TO BRING: Please have your scout wear his uniform (shirt, belt, & scarf*), bring his Scout Book (achievements are normally tracked at each meeting), and be ready for some Scouting fun.
*if you are having a difficult time acquiring uniform items, please talk to your Den Leaders or me so we can make special arrangements as required.
MEETING RULES: During
the first year in the Scouting program, Tiger Cubs and Adult Partners work
together to share in the Scouting experience. Each Tiger Cub must have his
parent or guardian in attendance with him at all meetings. As the Scout grows
and becomes a Bobcat, you are no longer required to be in attendance with your
son throughout the entire meeting or at certain pack activities. If you can not
stay for the den or pack meetings and plan to return to pick up your son,
please be available to pick him up at
MEETING FORMAT: Generally meetings last about 1 hour. The Den Leaders can make other arrangements with the Scouts based on the needs of the den. Weekly projects may focus on the monthly BSA theme for Cub Scouts, Tiger Track requirements, or any other general interest item that is suitable for the Scout. The Scouts may work on projects that take a couple weeks to complete. Many of the things done during the meetings will tie into the Scout advancements, electives, and other awards (academic and sporting belt loops, certificates, etc.). If the Den Leaders elect to use the theme concept, it will allow for an opportunity to build den camaraderie and steer the scouts toward new interests or hobbies they might otherwise not discover on their own.
DEN DUES: This is left to the discretion of the Den Leaders. Some of the dens charge $4.00 per month (Sep-May) which can be paid month-to-month or paid all ($36.00) at once. Please do not confuse this with charter fees that are paid once a year (Feb or Mar) to recharter your scout. Those fees are paid directly to the Committee Chairperson or Cubmaster, while the dues are paid to the Den Leaders. Half of the dues collected in the den will go to the pack to pay for awards, achievements, etc. The other half of the dues stay with the den to pay for den supplies or to spend on the den in some other manner.
