SNAKE STORY CONTEST

Most everyone has experienced some kind of snake encounter or adventure! Usually, this event is branded into our memories forever and is not often pleasant! Fear, danger, flight, the shakes, and even stark terror are the frequent related emotions and feelings in these situations. Many times, the startling nature of the rapid sequence of unplanned actions and reactions that occur when we happen upon a snake in less than controlled conditions tend to embellish or distort the reality just a bit!

This feature of our web site is about the sharing of these stories. We would invite visitors to our site to send in short written descriptions of their most unusual or scary encounter with our reptile friends. A page will do nicely to quickly share the details on how it came to happen and what the outcome was. We know that the stories will range from deadly serious, and perhaps even life-threatening, to the most amusing! You decide which makes the most sense for this contest.

A prize that is very meaningful to almost anyone who has visited our web site is being placed aside at Ranch Headquarters to send to the author of the winning story. A panel of our friends and cohorts here will evaluate each and every story to determine who receives this $100 value custom prize. Writing skills will not be so critical as is getting the main idea down for everyone else to picture this event as possibly happening to them. At the conclusion of the contest we will be printing a copy of the top three stories here on our site for all to enjoy and appreciate. Also, we will likely take some of the other material submitted and use it to develop a small collection of the most serious and the most amusing situations. Obviously, we think it would be nice to let everyone hear about snake encounters and a short work of this nature will assist with our goals. Credit will be referenced to all contributors and the single big winner will be announced at the end of our contest on December 31, 1997. We will let one more summer snake season pass in order to increase the number of scary encounters, but past happenings will work just as well!

Get busy and jot down those neat stories that you have probably relayed to your family and friends for a long time! We want to see these come rolling in! Snail Mail, with pictures attached if appropriate, is great but our E-mail will work too! Just take a few minutes to contact us with your special short story - we have heard so many over the years, but some fresh ones will be nice! Let the contest begin!
