The Peoples First Self-Advocates was founded in 1980 and is sponsored by The Arc/WC, Inc.
People First members are dedicated to the idea of self-advocacy.
Self-advocacy is having the opportunity to choose, knowing your rights and responsibilities, standing up for your rights and taking responsibility for your own life. Self-advocay allows the opportunity for people who are labeled "disabled" to speak out for themselves.
It is our belief that all people can learn, grow, and be influenced by their environment.
We welcome people to come to our activities to learn more about People First.
Meetings are held once a month along with a program, workshop, or social. The location of these events are announced in the "Banner" as well as here on the WEB.
It is our goal to be creative... recognizing the unique worth and potential of each and every person. Our programs provide new learning experiences and opportunities that promote self-assurance.
