Beginning and Intermediate Divisions

photo
Students are carefully led through beginning and intermediate grades into pointe work. Pointe should not be undertaken until the legs and feet are sufficiently strong and developed. The School does not encourage hurried training and practices the policy of all serious schools in properly preparing each student with a basic ballet foundation before beginning pointe work. Correct training begun at the right age is of paramount importance in the education of ballet dancers. It insures faultless technique and distinction of style throughout their careers, whereas errors permitted at the beginning of ballet training become increasingly serious impediments as the work advances.

The boys, of course, do not go on pointe. Their training is based more on jumps, beats, turns and exercises that develop strength and agility.

All students in all divisions are carefully places according to age and ability to insure maximum progress. Much emphasis is placed on individual corrections.
